Read on for our expert guide on how to correctly care for your vinyl flooring over time.
Is vinyl flooring scratch-resistant?
Vinyl flooring is not completely scratch-resistant, as with any floor, there is the risk of unwanted scratches or dents. There are a few things you can do to minimise these, including placing furniture pads underneath heavy furniture, such as your dining table or chairs.
Dust landing on your floor's surface is inevitable, however letting it collect over time can become a problem. If built up, dust can cause scratches to the vinyl flooring surface. Loose debris, dust and dirt should be removed regularly to prevent this from happening. This can be done with a soft brush to sweep it away or with gentle vacuuming.
There are steps that can be taken to minimise the dust and dirt entering. A great solution is placing a floor mat by the door to wipe shoes on to stop grit and sand - the most abrasive sort of dust - being walked into the room.
Are vinyl floor planks water-resistant?
Vinyl floor planks are water-resistant; it's one of the main benefits of vinyl flooring that there's no risk to using water to keep it clean. If materials such as wood are exposed to fluids for an extended period it can become problematic due to the risk of swelling and expansion, however the same isn't true of vinyl floors thanks to their water-resistant surface.
Which cleaning products are safe to use with vinyl flooring?
The Woca Master Care for Vinyl Flooring is safe to use on all types of vinyl flooring. This will clean and toughen the surface, also helping to cover up light scratches.
It's important to never use abrasive scourers on your vinyl floor when scrubbing as this can cause surface damage.

What rooms are suitable for vinyl flooring?
Vinyl flooring is highly versatile and suitable for nearly every room in your home. It's an excellent choice for your bathroom or kitchen flooring needs as it can cope with spills and splashes. The choice is yours as our flooring range comes in a wide variety of styles, such as wood effect, to incorporate into your home.
Sheet vinyl flooring is not suitable for wet rooms, or other areas where 100% waterproof flooring would be preferrable, but thanks to its water resistance is still suitable for both bathrooms and kitchens. Sheet vinyl is quick and easy to clean, only needing a quick vacuum or whipe down and combined with its fantastic cushioned construction, muffling feet and providing a soft surface, is ideal for both children's playrooms and nurseries.
Thanks to the 70% limestone core of rigid core vinyl, it can also be used in conservatories, or any other room with large windows, as it can withstand surface temperatures up to 60 °C. Perfect for rooms that are typically off limit to certain looks.
